Bearish Harami candlestick pattern
A bearish harami is a large green candle followed by a small candle whose body sits inside the green body. It shows the advance has paused.
How to identify it
- A large green candle after an advance.
- A small candle (often red) whose body is inside the green body.
Where it matters: Appears after an advance, near a high.
What it means
Buying momentum slowing.
What confirms it
A close below the first candle's open, which forms the three inside down pattern.
What invalidates it
A close above the first candle's high.
Common mistakes
- Selling on the harami alone without confirmation.
Frequently asked questions
Is a bearish harami bearish?
It has a bearish bias after an advance, but it is mild until confirmed.
Harami vs engulfing?
They are opposites in shape: in a harami the second body is inside the first; in an engulfing pattern it covers the first.
